A New Years Resolution to be Inspired & Inspiring!

Happy 2012 everyone! Now that you're over the headache of the silly season, where to from here?

Do you dread the pressure of setting new goals or do you embrace the feeling a new year brings to start afresh? For me? I just hope to build on the successes I've had, acknowledge the past, look at those areas where there is room for improvement and then just simply put one foot in front of the other. While it is always healthy to have some realistic goals to strive for, I find this type of resolution to be a more realistic way of going forward without beating myself up or loading myself too heavy with expectations.

I know that for some people this time of year can be overwhelming. Especially if you feel relatively isolated and alone. For other's change in itself, whenever it arrives can be daunting and at times challenging. Many of us too (in increasing numbers it seems) have also been feeling the stresses and strains of an economy gone mad, or are still battling to make it back from the natural disasters that were happening at this time last year.

I know for myself that this time last year, I helped join the ‘mud army' during the Queensland floods, and this brought about a sense of community that many of us had probably not felt in a long time. Many victims had change forced upon them, and other's chose to change and stand shoulder to shoulder with friends, neighbours and strangers in order to help them through. Nature can do that. You can't fight nature, so why fight change?

If you are one of those people who feel they need a nudge to get them going in the right direction again, take heart, you're not alone, but as Dr. Phil often advises, ‘you can't change what you don't acknowledge. 'There is also a song with a line in it that goes - ‘find someone who's turning, and you will come around'.

So I decided to go on a bit of an online quest to find some inspirational writings to help get me inspired for my new year, and in so doing I thought I would do the new ‘savvy' thing and pay it forward by also inspiring others. I was surprised to find quite a few others out there with like-minded thoughts, so I've narrowed it down and have found five links to some great articles & blogs to share with you:

And lastly, some more thoughts by me: A Pinch & A Punch for the First Day of the Month ... errrr ... Year! which will lead you to a great web page by Ben Davis of the ‘Do Life' campaign.

Here's to your wheels turning in a positive forward motion this year! Feel free to ‘pay it forward'.
